Snow and Ice World festival in Harbin, China

Harbin, in the far north east of China, is known for it’s cold weather. So you might expect that most tourist go in summer. But no, you’d be wrong. The city is famous for it’s Snow and Ice World Festival every winter. This is a small city sized theme park built entirely from ice. Lights run inside the ice giving the site an other worldly feel. Like some set from an episode of Dr Who. But this is no film set. These are real buildings made of ice. Tourists travel from all over the world, braving the -28C weather, to see reproductions of some of the worlds most famous landmarks, made into ice.
